STAMP DUTY QUESTIONS
Marriage and changing property ownership
You may be able to transfer the ownership of your matrimonial home (principle place of residence) from one persons name to both names after marriage without paying stamp duty. This stamp duty exemption does only apply to your matrimonial home. We will help clients and guide them through the process.
Should the new partner not be an Australian Citizen or a permanent resident meeting the criteria, you will need to consider whether surcharge duty will apply.
